T4 WORKS IN PROGRESS: final days

This week I was working right up to the deadline, and it was at this point that I genuinely thought I might not finish the installation in time. There was still so much gluing and stitching to complete, and I realised in hindsight that I should have started gluing the cyanotypes onto the safety barrier mesh the previous week. If I had done that earlier, I could have left this week mainly for the final stitching and finishing details.
By Wednesday, I was feeling the pressure of how much work was still left to do. Lesley stepped in and helped me glue for a couple of hours, which made a huge difference. Her help saved me about half a day of work and allowed me to catch up when I was starting to fall behind. Because of this, I was able to finish half a day early and complete the final row of stitching on Wednesday and Thursday morning.
This week taught me how important it is to allow more time for the slow, repetitive processes in an installation. The hand stitching and gluing were both more time-consuming than I expected, especially at this scale. Even though it was stressful, I am glad that I kept going, accepted help when I needed it, and managed to complete the work before the deadline.
